Act III

Three passengers sitting in 3 seats.  (3 actors)

 

A: Excuse me, why is the train not departing?

B: There must be a breakdown.

A: We’re going to arrive late. I can’t let my mother know the train is delayed.

C: You’re lucky someone is waiting for you. Nobody’s waiting for me.

A: Don’t be so tragic. One day, someone will be waiting for you.

C: I’ve been travelling on this train for 33 years and nobody has ever waited for me to arrive.

B: Do you have family there?

C: No, I don’t.

A: Any friends?

C: No, no friends.

A: How can you expect someone to wait for you, then?

B- Don’t be rude. She’s sad.

C- I want to cry.

B- You see?

A- She’s crying because you said she’s sad.

B- No, she’s crying because she wants me to be sad.

C- I’m crying because nobody is waiting for me. It’s so nice when people meet again. They hug and they kiss. And when they part, hands waving in the air, saying goodbye. Some people have a lot and other people so little.

B- Don’t take it that way. Surely, some day someone will wait for you.

A - You shouldn’t be so tragic if you want company.

B- Don’t be rude.

A- It’s true. Who wants to be with a tragic person?

B- For God’s sake! What’s the matter with this train? 

C- They’ll fix it up soon.

A_ They should say something. This is not normal. They should have more consideration for passengers who are waiting.

B- I’ll ask

A- You shouldn’t get off. The train might leave just then.

C-  You’re right.

B-  Are you better now?

C´- Yes, thanks.  Sorry about that.

B- Don’t worry. It’s good to let off steam.

 

Loudspeakers say the train will not depart owing to a breakdown.

 

A- That’s all we needed!

B- Oh, dear! I have an important meeting. What am I going to do, now?

A- I’ll call my mother, so she doesn’t go to the station.

B- I’ll go with you. I’ll have to cancel the meeting.

C- I’m so relieved. I was lucky the train broke down so I don’t have to arrive and be all alone at the station. I think I will not take a train again, so nobody will have to wait for me. Goo
